Now grown-up and experienced in battle, many of the original cast of the New Mutants have teamed-up to form a new team of X-Men.
The line-up strongly resembles the original roster of the New Mutants, except for Wolfsbane who is a member of the secretive wetworks team, X-Force. The other original members including de-powered Dani Moonstar, Karma, Sunspot, Magma and the recently resurrected Illyana Rasputin follow orders from Cannonball.
They were first brought together when Dani Moonstar & Karma were investigating the possible appearance of a new mutant, after the events of M-Day. However, their investigations uncovered the return of Legion. Although still no-longer a mutant Dani Moonstar has regained her Valkyrie abilities, and their alien friend Warlock has returned from outer space. The team recently encountered their last member; Cypher who was raised from the dead by the the transmode-virus.
