This is the second Blade solo series from Marvel, the first under their Strange Tales banner. Other Strange Tales titles included Man-Thing, Werewolf By Night, and an announced Satana solo title penned by Warren Ellis that ultimately was never produced. The title coincided with the release of the New Line Cinema film featuring Wesley Snipes.

The title was originally meant as an ongoing series but by issue #2 it was changed to a six issue mini series.

Sadly, like all the other titles under the Strange Tales banner, Blade was cancelled early after only three issues. The story was left unresolved on a cliffhanger. The cancellation was most likely due to poor sales and it was released during the Bankruptcy period of Marvel. Marvel was forced to cancel any and every title during that period that did not turn a profit. Many unfortunate cancellations were made as well as justified ones.

The story was a follow up to the one-shot title Blade: Crescent City Blues and a story from Strange Tales: Dark Corners featuring Morbius. Morbius was to be the co-star of this new Blade book. Both the Morbius' story and Blade's story disregarded the continuity from their previous solo titles Blade: The Vampire Hunter and Morbius: The Living Vampire during the days of the Midnight Sons. Coincidentally both of the aforementioned titles were also cancelled before resolving their various story arcs and plot threads. Blade and Morbius can't seem to catch a break.

Collected in Blade: Blood and Chaos.
