In 1987, Howard Chaykin revived the Blackhawk Squadron with a more mature reader orientated tone as well as several updates and slight name changes to make the originals less stereotypical as well as some new characters entirely.
This three issue prestige mini-series was well received and Chaykin's revised team continued on into Action Comics Weekly and then an ongoing series Blackhawk (1989).
