Origin

Worried about a perceived invasion from Earth, Hightown's Overseer uses the same cosmic rays he used on the Fantastic Four, accidentally empowering them, on his own people to create a team of defenders know as the Unparalleled. Occasionally, the cosmic rays would mutate the volunteers into what the Overseer considered objectionable. He banished those unfortunate candidates to the bowels of Hightown, where they grew angrier and angrier.

Four-Told

When the Fantastic Four showed up as Overseer had prophesied, The Thing was banished for being a monster. After proving his strength to the mob, he was able to rally them into fighting their way back to the surface world. The mob's belief in what the Overseer preached was too strong. They turned on Ben and the rest of the Fantastic Four after Ben destroys their sacred tower. Reed is able to mend bridges by offering the "almost cure" tech they use to give Ben one day a year as human, however, some of the non-monstrous residents of Spyre are still bigoted against their appearance.

Reckoning War

After absorbing and then losing the combined intelligence of The Watchers, Reed shared what he remembered with the Overseer, who was able to create a permanent cure for cosmic mutation for The Monster Mob.
