The Paladin Corporation uses both legal and illegal tactics in order to keep their influence in and around Manhattan. They regularly hire assassins to kill rivals before killing the assassins themselves after 4 jobs in order to "tie up loose ends".
They later hired Elektra to do jobs for them before trying to have her killed. However, Elektra retaliated by slaughtering the highest-ranking members of the company.

Jason Spierling managed to find out about the companies plan to engineer a coup and attempted to reveal it to the public. In order to keep him silent, the company had Elektra kill him.
