Project Delta used Deltan-model LMD's which were more sophisticated Deltites born from artificial wombs and were used to replace various agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Deltan-models would grow quickly and die. Thus The Deltite's plan to capture Nick Fury and synthesize the Infinity  Formula. They were all eventually destroyed aboard the SHIELD satellite.
