Satyrs are often conflated with the Roman beings called fauns. Satyr's and fauns are often associated with wine and the pursuit of pleasure. This association usually places them together with nymphs in pastoral settings where they engage in revels.

Satyr's and fauns have also made inroads into the fantasy genre most notably the writings of C. S. Lewis and various role playing game universes.
