Apts live in the icy mountains on the northern region of Barsoom (Mars). A pack of Apts is called a horror.

All but a single horror of the Apts have been slaughtered by the Yellow Martians. Jeddak Talu keeps that horror to hunt them in celebration of their victory over former jeddak Salensus Oll.
