Origin

It is unknown exactly when the Bucket O' Soldier's were produced and marketed or when Andy Davis acquired them.

Creation

The Bucket O' Soldier's were created by Pixar for the movie Toy Story.

Team Evolution

Originally there were an upwards of 200 Toy Soldiers in the bucket; however, by the time the events of Toy Story 3 only 3 soldiers were left. While many of the soldiers were thrown away over a course of many years, there is a case of one soldier by the name of Corporal Thomas who was "lost" during an event known only as the Lawnmower Incident.

While not all of the soldiers are named, a select few have been given titles:

  • Sarge
  • Private Benjamin
  • Captain Shields
  • Mr. Plastic Explosives
  • Private F.C. Mojo
  • Corporal Thomas (Lost/Destroyed)
  • Thorpe
  • Gordon the Paratrooper
  • Private Jensen

Major Story Arcs

Toy Story

Sarge and his Bucket O' Soldiers are called upon by Woody during Andy's birthday party; their main job being to perform reconnaissance & report to the other toys what presents Andy received. During this mission one of the soldiers was stepped on by Mrs. Davis, nearly crushing him. Despite the soldier's pleas to move on without him, Sarge lifted the soldier and helped him into a nearby potted plant as one of their main rules is that no man is ever left behind.

The Bucket O' Soldiers also attack Woody after he pushes Buzz Lightyear out of Andy's bedroom window; however, their attack fails as Andy begins entering the room forcing all the toys to go limp.

Toy Story 2

The Bucket O' Soldiers are seen trying to hold a door shut along with Rocky Gibraltar; however, they aren't strong enough & Andy's dog, Buster, barges in.

Toy Story 3

After a failed attempt to get Andy to play with his toys again, dubbed Operation Playtime, the remaining Bucket O' Soldiers realize that Andy is too grown up and it's time for them to move onto new things. By the end of the film they wind up at Sunnyside Daycare and are taken in by Barbie & Ken.
