Amanda Waller gathered the Shadow Fighters specifically to defeat Eclipso when he took over a South American country. Most of the team died trying to defeat the villain, though most of them later turned up alive. The first wave of Fighters went straight fo Eclipso's stronghold and were all killed. A smaller team is sent into to recover the bodies and continue observing Elcipso's actions. Eclipso throws a nuclear missile at their headquarters and upon fleeing, the team regroups and is able to chase him out.
