The Rag Doll Cult formed around the original Rag Doll in his later years, when his joints began to over-extend and cause him great pain. Wandering and nearly mad, he began to accumulate followers, mostly among the homeless and insane of Opal City, who were drawn to his rantings. Willing to indulge his every desire, his cult descended upon Opal City to wreak havoc and get the revenge Rag Doll had long craved.   
Rag Doll was captured by Starman, Flash, Green Lantern, Hourman and Doctor Mid-Nite, and was apparently killed in an escape attempt. His cult retrieved his body from the morgue, and faded away. Rag Doll later resurfaced, alive, along with his cult, during the Grand Guignol storyline
