X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Apocalypse
  • Elements of the Weapon X story arc are seen in the first two X-Men movies (X-Men and X2: X-Men United). During them, Wolverine (played by Hugh Jackman) has flashbacks of his time in the Weapon X facility, where he is suspended in a tank as adamantium is injected into his body.
  • This is expanded on in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, where Logan's transformation is shown in full. In a departure from the comics, Logan volunteers to undergo the adamantium bonding process in order to get revenge on Sabretooth, who he believes murdered his wife. However, after realizing that William Stryker intends to wipe his memory, Wolverine bursts out of the tank and goes on a rampage.
  • The Weapon X storyline is partially homaged in X-Men: Apocalypse. When Jean Grey, Cyclops and Nightcrawler arrive at William Stryker's base to rescue their captive comrades, they discover Logan, who has been experimented on. During this scene, he is shown wearing the iconic headset and chest harness from the comic. After being freed by Jean, Logan goes on a rampage and escapes the facility.

Animation

X-Men: The Animated Series
X-Men: The Animated Series
  • Elements of the Weapon X storyline appear in Wolverine's backstory in X-Men: The Animated Series. "Repo Man" shows flashbacks to the experiments Professor Thorton performed on Logan, including bonding the adamantium to Logan's bones. Logan's subsequent rampage and escape are also depicted, albeit in a toned down manner due to the show being aimed at children. The episode "Weapon X, Lies and Videotape" further explores this, dealing with the mental conditioning Logan was put through to make the ultimate killing machine.
  • The X-Men: Evolution episode "Grim Reminder" incorporates elements of the story, namely a scene at the beginning where Logan awakens in a tank and then escapes the Weapon X facility by using his claws.
  • Elements of the story appear in Hulk vs. Wolverine, which briefly shows Logan's origin. Like in the original story, he is captured while stumbling out of a bar, and is subjected to the adamantium bonding process by Professor Thorton.

Video Games

Wolverine's Revenge
Wolverine's Revenge
  • X2: Wolverine's Revenge loosely adapts elements of the story, with the opening level depicting Logan's escape from the Weapon X facility. He also wears the same gear Logan did in the comic for this stage of the game.
  • A flashback level based on the storyline appears in the first X-Men Legends game, depicting Logan's bloody escape from the Weapon X facility.
  • Wolverine's Weapon X outfit is available as an alternate DLC costume in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.
