Plot Summary

A body has washed up in Metropolis, and it looks like Batman's the killer! Superman knows better, but Clark Kent gets assigned to go to Gotham to investigate. And that's when things start to get freaky...

*Spoilers

The body of Garrett Remington, a reporter for the Gotham Gazette and a friend of Perry White, washes ashore in Metropolis. It's not long til Perry puts Clark Kent on the case, because not only was Garrett a friend of the editor in chief, he was working on a big story, real identity of Batman. Perry believes that Batman killed Garrett to keep the secret.

Clark heads off to Gotham, where he meets up with Batman, who tells him to go back to Metropolis and leave Gotham to its Dark Knight. Clark can't do that, knowing that Batman isn't the murderer, but feels like Batman is hiding something. While Clark heads off to meet Garrett's Editor-In-Chief Martin Mayne, Batman goes to check out Garrett's apartment. There Batman learns that Garrett knew that Bruce Wayne is Batman. Batman then destroys the evidence before the Gotham Police arrive. Meanwhile Clark learns from Mayne that Garrett keep his evidence locked up in his desk. Clark then learns that the evidence is a Bat-a-rang that links Batman to Wayne Tech.

Clark talks to Lucas Fox at Wayne Tech and learns that Batman has been stealing tech from Wayne Tech but that Bruce Wayne has been taking the financial lost personally. Knowing he can't report the story, and learning that Bruce hadn't done anything real legal, Clark says good bye to Mayne and heads back to Metropolis. Meanwhile, Batman dons the personal of Matches Malone and learns that people with information about Batman's true identity put that info in "The Box" and are paid handsomely. When Batman checks out The Box, he learns that The Joker uses this Box to get information. Batman then learns that The Joker has gone after Clark Kent.

Back at the Daily Planet, the Joker attacks Clark, and Clark avoids his attacks without letting on he is really Superman. Clark uses his x-ray vision to learn that the Joker has tied the staff up to a bomb, but luckily Batman shows up before Clark needs to break character, and saves the day. The duo apprehends the Joker and then heads back to Gotham where they confront Mayne.

Batman points out that he knows Mayne was working with the Joker. Clark then tells Mayne that Bruce Wayne has bought the Gotham Gazette and that Mayne is fired. Later Batman and Superman discuss how their brands of justice and truth are both needed in this crazy world.
