Wayne Boring studied art at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Chicago Art Institute. In 1938 he answered Jerry Siegel's magazine ad for a cartoonist-for-hire. He worked with Siegel and Shuster as the primary illustrator of the Superman daily newspaper strip, and later for D.C., primarily on Superman comics.
