He is also known as Stephen R. Bissette.

Worked in comics professionally for about 24 years. He graduated in 1978 as a member of the pioneer class of The Joe Kubert School of Cartoon & Graphic Art, Inc., which is located in Dover, New Jersey.  Most famous for his work with Alan Moore, such as Swamp Thing, Mirror of Love, From Hell and Lost Girls (in the pages of Taboo) and 1963. During his run on Swamp Thing he would be one of three people to Co-Create John Constantine, the other two being Alan Moore and John Totleben.

The fallout with Alan Moore still remains unknown since not even Steven Bissette knows what happened to end their friendship.  Speculations are that Moore did not like the way Bissette handled From Hell and Lost Girls as a publisher at SpiderBaby Grafix and Tundra.

Steven currently teaches at The Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction Vermont..  The Center opened its doors in fall of 2005 and Steven would see his first graduating class in spring of 2007.

He lives and works in Vermont with his wife Marjory.
