Martin Nodell
Artist and co-creator responsible for the Green Lantern who started working in comics in the 40s, later moving into advertising where he created the Pillsbury Dough-boy.
According to Mr. Nodell In 1940 he was taking a Subway ride in Manhattan to his Brooklyn home when he saw a trainman waving a lantern along the dark track. This coupled with an imaginary ring inspired the character of Green Lantern (Alan Scott). Martin Nodell who commonly signed his name "Mart Nodell" co created the first Green Lantern alongside writer Bill Finger (co-creator of Batman,Robin, Joker etc). When Mart Nodell started out under a pseudonym because at the time he felt comics were a "forbidden literature" and it was "culturally unacceptable." Nodell also worked for Timely Comics (which would one day become Marvel). Under which he drew Captain America, The Sub-Mariner and The Human Torch.
When the Green Lantern first appeared Martin "Mart" Nodell actually recorded his name as Mart Dellon (a rearranging of the spelling of his actual last name)
