Dave Dorman is an extraordinary fantasy and science fiction artist, whose paintings have graced comic book covers, role-playing game books, and issues of Heavy Metal. In 1996, FPG, Inc. released a 90 piece card set titled Best of David Dorman Chromium, featuring some of his most notable works up to that point. Several volumes have collected his paintings, including The Star Wars Art of Dave Dorman.

Born in Michigan in the late 1950s, Dorman attended The Kubert School, then the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art, but left because the curriculum at that time only included black and white art. He is self taught. In the early 1980s, Hasbro commissioned Dorman to paint the art that appeared on the cards accompanying over 150 of its G.I. Joe 3-inch action figures. Dorman was voted best Star Wars artist by Star Wars Galaxy magazine in 1996. He has also won an Eisner Award and an Inkpot Award at San-Diego Comic-Con.

He is still active at an artist. His pop culture podcast, Wednesday is Comic Book Day, is available on iTunes.
