Adriana Melo
Brazilian comic artist
Adriana Melo is a Brazilian comics best known for work on Star Wars: Empire. She has also worked for marvel with books including Ms. Marvel and Amazing Spider-Man Presents: Jackpot and DC with Birds of Prey and Rose & Thorn.
Early Life
Adriana Melo was born in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since her early childhood, she's always had an affinity for art and comic books. She was first introduced to super hero comics during high school, and decided to pursue a career as a penciller. At the age of 18, she attended a comic event in Sao Paulo and presented her portfolio to Roger Cruz and Marc Campos. After evaluating the material, the two men were very impressed and decided to sponsor her.
Career
She was given her first professional assignment by Marvel Comics in 1995, pencilling Iron Man #320. Afterwards, she pencilled issues 2-5 of Fantastic Four Unplugged as well as Silver Surfer #124. After a five year hiatus, due to the birth of her first daughter, she returned to comics and worked on on various titles such as Star Wars Tales, RTX Red Rock: The Adventure Begins, Rose and Thorn, Star Wars:Empire, Birds of Prey and Witchblade. Recently, she has been serving as a fill in artist for Catwoman.
