Disguised as a cane in civilian garb, it is a versatile, multi-purpose weapon, stronger than any fist. It contains thirty feet of aircraft control cable, which is connected to a case-hardened steel grapnel. Internal mechanisms allow the cable to be neatly wound and unwound, while a powerful spring launches the grapnel. Daredevil usually carries two fighting batons. The handle can be straightened for use when throwing. The club can also be split into two parts, one of which is a fighting baton, the other of which ends in a curved hook.

The club contains a shotgun microphone, a miniature tape recorder, and a cable swing line. At least one version converted to a gun complete with trigger and pop-up sight(!?!).

The Billy Club can be used as both a weapon and a life saver. The cable can shoot out and take down Daredevil's enemies or it can shoot out and wrap around anything to help catch Daredevil from a fall or it can be used as a cane when he is being a "civilized" person amongst other citizens.
