History

The Amulet of Isis was originally made in ancient Egypt and its magicks gathered by the goddess Isis for Pharaoh Hatshepsut, the reigning queen of Egypt. After her death it became temporarily dormant. The amulet was later attached to the scarab in which Black Adam's soul was imprisoned by Shazam.

In the Earth-S universe it was worn by Andrea Thomas otherwise known as Isis. It bestowed upon her control of earth and sky. Also she was granted superhuman strength, flight, super speed and the ability of mind over matter. It is a window throughout time and by gazing into the Iris, one can percieve events that took place during the time of Ancient Egypt, the time of the Pharaohs. The Amulet also allowed her to call upon the goddess Isis for many mystical effects. But these mystical effect require that she speak a mantra, usually rhymed. Such an effect would be flight by saying the following phrase:

"Oh, zephyr winds that blow on high, lift me now, so I might fly"

Now in DC's current continuity it was seen again during 52 where Black Adam gave it to his lover, Adrianna Tomaz after taking it from the tomb of his wife and children. It was blessed by Captain Marvel and so Adrianna could now summon the power of the Amulet to transform into Isis if she would hold it and say the words "I am Isis".

After this transformation she has superhuman strength, speed, endurance and wisdom as well as flight, healing, telekinesis and control over nature (including all the elements). When she dies she is eventually resurrected by a Lazarus Pit and takes the Amulet of Isis for herself once again.
