Odin describes Skornheim as the "deadly land beyond the pale of Asgard." He uses it as a trial ground for the gods. Some of the trials experienced there are: quicksand, lava, a barrier of thorns that can rip through armor, Yagg the Slayer, the blistering hot path of Skornheim's boulder road, a jungle of maneating plants, and a chasm of fire. At the end of the trials there is a portal that leads back to Asgard.
