History of San Diego Comic-Con

The San Diego Comic-Con originally started out as the Golden State Comic Book Convention. In 1970, it was changed to the San Diego Comic Book Convention. It has been held at the San Diego Convention Center and runs four days (Thursday - Sunday) during the end of July.

Since 1974, Comic Con International has awarded creators and members alike yearly during the convention with their Inkpot Awards.

The San Diego Convention Center will remain home to the Con at least through 2012. Because of over-crowding issues, the location might be changed after 2012.

Attendance at San Diego Comic-Con

The 2009 International Comic-Con in San Diego brought in an audience of 125,000.

Comic Vine at San Diego Comic-Con

For years now Comic Vine has grown exponentially as one of the main comic book resources on the internet. That title can not come without the coverage from conventions including the biggest of them all San Diego Comic-Con.
