Palestine is a sovereign states with limited recognition (by 136 nations). It has been in constant conflict with Israel over various claims (mostly in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank). Along with Israel, the name was used when the United Kingdom had a League of Nations mandate over the territory (1920-1948).
