Small islands country in the middle of the Mediterranean between Sicily and Libya. Has passed between many rulers in its days but is perhaps best known as the home of the Knights Hospitalier (or the Knights of St. John) in the Middle Ages and the home of the British military in the Second World War (often referred to as a stationary aircraft carrier.)
Home to a booming tourism business and recent entrant into the European Union.
