In 2011 Marvel launched a series of graphic novels meant to introduce classic origin stories to new readers. Each graphic novel is accompanied with a reprint of an issue of a current ongoing series of the same characters.

The first batch of Season One included:

• Fantastic Four (plus Fantastic Four #570)
• X-Men (plus Uncanny X-Men #1)
• Daredevil (plus Daredevil #1)
• Spider-Man (plus Avenging Spider-Man #1)

The second batch featured:

• Ant-Man (Pym) (plus Avengers Academy #1)
• Hulk (plus Incredible Hulk #1)
• Doctor Strange (plus Defenders #1)

The third batch featured:

• The Avengers
• Iron Man
• Wolverine
• Thor

The first two waves were previewed in two free special Season One guides. The third batch did not feature a reprint of an ongoing series.
