NOTE: This concept should only be attached to the first Rebirth branded issues. No other issues, annuals, international prints, or trade collections.
Rebirth is a company-wide relaunch of DC Comics titles beginning in June 2016 and incorporating pre-Flashpoint and The New 52 continuity. This time their line would be stripped down to 32 titles as compared to the 52 different titles of The New 52 launch at the end of 2011. All ongoing titles would be discontinued during Rebirth and either replaced by their new ongoing series or ultimately canceled with no replacement. Unlike the New 52, the Rebirth launch would be spread over several months. Another major change would see 17 of the 32 books being initially shipped twice-monthly with the other 15 being shipped monthly as usual, and all Rebirth titles would be sold for $2.99 only. Last but not least 23 of the 32 books and new ongoing series would be kicked off with a special Rebirth one-shot. In addition, an 80-page DC Universe: Rebirth Special would also be released for $2.99 only on May 25, 2016.
In an interview with ComicVine Dan DiDio said Rebirth "is about getting back to the core of what DC characters are all about" and will be a "return to greatness!" About the Rebirth Special he added "it's going to have what I believe is the single most controversial scene in DC Comics in all the time I've been there."
Longest running New 52 titles
Longest running New 52 titles: 12 of the 52 titles that had been launched in September 2011 would get to a maximum of 52 regular issues before Rebirth; these are (in alphabetical order): Action Comics, Aquaman, Batgirl, Batman, Catwoman, Detective Comics, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Justice League, Superman, The Flash, Wonder Woman. Only two of these would return to their original volumes and keep their combined regular issues count (original volume one + New 52).
Action & Detective Comics returning to their original volumes
Two of DC's formerly longest running series - Action Comics and Detective Comics - that had been cancelled and replaced by new ongoing series and second volumes, respectively, during the New 52 relaunch in September 2011 would be returned to their original volumes combining the numbering of the regular issues of original and the New 52 volumes (not counting zero, point, and one million issues):
