Christmas in Modern Comics

Many modern comics feature the popular examination of the commercialization of Christmas in the Western world in juxtaposition to that of the religious significance and the theme of giving rather than receiving.

Christmas Comics in the U.K.

There has been a long tradition of British comics, dating back to the 19th century, of having a 'special' Christmas edition issue. These festive comics would often have more pages than the regular issues and come with a free gift. The stories inside would nearly always be about the main characters celebrating or being involved with the Christmas activities. Another long tradition is the Christmas editions having snow on the title masthead.
