Ray Thompson was created for the two episodes of "Legends" of the Justice League animated series. Originally believed to be the mascot of the Justice Guild of America, a superhero team from another universe (like JSA's Johnny Thunder or JLA' Snapper Carr), it was revealed than he was a reality manipulator mutant, survivor of a nuclear war from the 60's. With his mental powers he was able to recreate the heros of his childhood and keep under control the surviving population of his world. However when the Justice League arrived to his universe, his facade was broken.

His appearance was analog to the golden age character Brainwave. His name was a nod to Roy Thomas, veteran writer who worked in the earth 2 titles at DC.
