Svengoolie is the alter ego of Chicago-based radio broadcaster, Rich Koz, and the second man to claim that title. The original Svengoolie was portrayed by Jerry G. Bishop, with Koz appearing on-screen as "the Son of Svengoolie." Similar to Elvira, Svengoolie curates bad horror and science fiction films. While Sven remains in Chicago, his show broadcasts nationwide on MeTV as a regular part of the network's Super Sci-Fi Saturday Night.

Svengoolie's popularity has led the character to appear in comics, as well. Both Alex Ross and David Dastmalchian have slipped Sven cameos into their respective projects, and Sven has made more prominent appearances in Svengoolie Meets the DC Universe and his own title, published by Frank Miller Presents.
