John McCain
John McCain is an American politician in the Republican party. He has been the United States Senator from Arizona since 1987. He ran in the 2008 presidential elections with Sarah Palin as his running mate, but lost to Barack Obama.

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone in 1936, and when he grew up he followed his father and grandfather into the Navy. He fought in Vietnam and was captured and placed in a POW camp. He survived a great deal of torture and was eventually released. He went on to become a politician and eventually in 2008 he ran for president. However, his presidential bid failed, and he returned to Arizona where he remains Senator.
