When Volta's electricity powers manifested, they were too much for her. Electric bolts would fly from her body as she screamed for people to get out of the way. She was rescued by her nation's sovereign, Doctor Doom. He gave her a vibranium spear, which she could use as a lightning rod, channeling her power through it rather than let it wildly arc off her body.

Major Story Arcs
Fall of X
When Orchis attacked Krakoa, resulting in Krakoan mutants being dead or on the run, Doom's prediction came true. Surviving members of the X-Men attempted to enter Latveria, believing their mutants were being held against their will. Members of the Seven Daggers quickly fought back against the X-Men, eventually defeating them. As a show of good faith, they promised their assistance.
