Origin

No one was aware of Vargas existence until Storm and her team were looking for Destiny's Diary in X-treme X-men #1. Vargas kills Psylocke with his incredible sword skills and wounds Rogue and Beast. Vargas disappears with one of the diaries and to his surprise, saw his death predicted by the diary. He tries to prevent this from happening by killing Rogue during the Madripoor invasion.

Vargas returns to the city to retrieve his sword when he is confronted by Rogue wearing Psylocke's costume. The two battle each other and Rogue eventually won, meaning the prediction of the diary was going to be correct. However, it was later revealed that Rogue let Vargas live so as to not allow the diaries prediction come true. During the storyline "Blinded by the Light", as per Mr. Sinister's orders, all those with knowledge of the future were to be killed. Having possession of one of Destiny's diaries, he was targeted by Sinister's Marauders and apparently eliminated. As his death occured off panel, and with Gateway still alive (another targeted for death by Sinister), Vargas' ultimate fate is yet unknown.
