Barret once stole the Mauler armor in a failed attempt to confront Daredevil. He later managed to steal the Stilt-Man armor and offered his services to the the Kingpin.

Kingpin contended that he did not employ "idiots" and turned him down. The original creator of the Stilt-Man armor, Wilbur Day, contacted Daredevil with information on how to defeat Barret.

Turk Barret spent much of his time at Josie's Bar with his friend Grotto who often reluctantly participates in Turk's schemes. Turk once mugged a "Santa" at Christmas and intended to use the costume to swindle donations from others. He was confronted by a discombobulated Matt Murdock. Barret stabbed Matt wounding, and nearly killing him.
