Davis Cameron lived with his sister, Heather Cameron (Lifeguard) in Australia where he spent most of his time surfing. Unbeknownst to the two of them, their father was a crime lord. Upon his death, his enemies sought out the Cameron siblings and tried to kill them. With the assistance of X-Men Storm and Thunderbird II (Neal Sharra), they were able to survive the attack. Heather and Davis joined Storm's group, the X-Treme X-Men.

Creation

Slipstream was created by Chris Claremont and Salvador Larroca and first appeared in X-Treme X-Men issue 6 (2001).

While Heather had obvious mutant powers, Davis seemed to be a normal human. However, when Heather was abducted by the alien villain Shaitan, Sage revealed to Davis that he a latent mutant power. In order to help rescue his sister, he allowed Sage to activate his mutant gene. His powers allowed the X-Men to rescue Heather, although he was severely injured by the villain Vargas in the process.

While recovering in the hospital, Heather underwent her physical transformation, revealing her Shi'ar heritage. When she visited Davis, he denied that she was his sister and he fled, telling her not to try and find him.

Davis was not heard from again until after M-Day, when it was revealed that he was stripped of his mutant powers.

Powers

Davis has the ability to open a teleportation portal called a "warp wave", through which he can transport himself and others. He also has the ability to lock on to the location of individuals with the purpose of teleporting to them. He navigates through the portal with the assistance of a modified surfboard. Davis can bring others through the portal with him, although it tires him out more quickly.
