Slag was a prisoner of Latveria, forced to work in a labor camp. He was far stronger than the prison defenses but never attempted to escape. Doom saw the integrity of this and invited him to join other mutants in his service.

Major Story Arcs
Fall of X
When Orchis attacked Krakoa, resulting in Krakoan mutants being dead or on the run, Doom's prediction came true. Surviving members of the X-Men attempted to enter Latveria, believing their mutants were being held against their will. Members of the Seven Daggers quickly fought back against the X-Men, eventually defeating them. As a show of good faith, they promised their assistance.
Powers & Abilities
Volcanic Rock: Slag's limbs are made of volcanic rock. It increases his strength, size, and durability, and it also allows him to radiate heat.
