Origin

Mehemet Faoul was presented with a box on his father Abdul Faoul's deathbed. In that box was Abdul's journal, his costume and a picture of Ruby Scarab. Since the Ruby Scarab had mysteriously disappeared years earlier, Mehemet decided to finish his father's search. Mehemet searched for years, and was on a brink of giving up. It was then he decided to visit the site his father found it. And there it was, the Ruby Scarab had found itself back at its resting place. Mehemet took the Ruby Scarab and became the second Scarlet Scarab, hero of Egypt.

Creation

The second Scarlet Scarab was created in 1982 by Alan Kupperberg and Doug Moench. His only appearance was in Thor #326.

Major Story Arcs

When the Eye of Horus was stolen, Scarlet Scarab tracked the men to Chicago. The first museum he checked didn't give him any results. He went to Oriental Museum next, but there he was interrupted by Thor, who mistook him for a criminal and the two clashed. During the fight Scarlet Scarab showed his powers were comparable to engage even him. Thor managed to separate the Ruby Scarab from Mehemet, and then offered him to discuss his situation. The museum curator confirmed that there were men who tried to sell him some stolen artifact, and he notified the police about it. Thor then gave the Ruby Scarab back to Mehemet, and they teamed up to find the criminals. The police had already found the criminals and they were hold up in an apartment building near the shores. Scarlet Scarab didn't want to wait and blasted thought the wall. Some criminals escaped with the boat, but didn't get far when both Thor and Scarlet Scarab flew after them. Scarlet Scarab took the artifact, but also wanted the criminals be brought to Egypt for justice. Thor convinced him to let them stand trial in America first before being extradited. Scarlet Scarab then returned to Egypt, having gained respect for and from Thor.
