Reno Carlotta was an abolitionist in the 1800s America. When her anti-slavery protest group was cornered and gunned down, she and her husband were forced to jump off a cliff into the Big Muddy River. They hit so hard, it felt like hitting gravel, and when they both sank to the bottom, only Reno rose back to the top, having been chosen to be a host by the Phoenix Force.
Creation
Reno was first featured in a group shot of historical heroes in Avengers (2018) #50 by Jason Aaron and Javier Garrón. She was created as part of Aaron's long term plans for the secret history of legacy heroes and how they relate to Mephisto.
Powers and Abilities
Gunslinger: Reno is a proficient gun hand, being active in the Old West.
Phoenix Force: As host to the Phoenix, Reno is able to control cosmic fire, allowing her to fly and shoot flames.
