Origin

Created by Steve Gerber, Relf is the nephew of Melf, the original Elf with a Gun, whom Gerber also created. See Time Agent for a different group of Elves with Guns.

Major Story Arcs

Relf appears on Earth and wants revenge on the truck driver who killed Melf. He shoots Ringmaster, in a style very similar to the way Melf would kill people in Defenders, by showing up at his door and shooting him with a revolver. However, Ringmaster survives, unlike all of Melf's victims. He takes takes a hypnotic ukelele from Ringmaster, then teams with with the Circus of Crime.

Realizing that that he should have taken Ringmaster's hypnotic disk instead of the ukelele, they find that the disk was taken by the FBI and is now in a warehouse. In trying to retrieve it, they are interrupted by Spider-Man. and Howard the Duck. They are all in turn interrupted by an Officer Dragon shows up with a duck with a gun.

(Relf, though a Marvel character, also shows up in the Savage Dragon/Destroyer Duck crossover, which fills in more of the same Circus of Crime story.)

Relf leaves the scene with Princess Python as one of the Circus of Crime members crashes into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's KISS exhibit--a band that Meld had another crossover with.

Powers and Abilities

Relf has various magical powers; he says his "race was advanced far beyond humankind." These powers include resurrection of the dead and time manipulation (he shot all the Circus of Crime members to death, then reversed time and brought them back to life with the bullets returning to his gun); teleportation of himself and others; and the ability to give Princess Python's snake wings.

However, his powers have limits. He says, "There's this whole rigamarole--ratios of time to damage points to mana level--! Elven magic is harder to score than a video game--an I'm lousy at math."

He carries what appears to be a normal revolver.
