The original Pulsar was Plor, a first generation Spaceknight. His main power was creating force fields and using them for defense and offense. As a youth Plor was in love with Vola. The two were recruited into the Spaceknights together. Vola would become the female Spaceknight codenamed Trapper. Plor was among the first Spaceknights to set foot on Wraithworld and helped rescue Rom from it. Later the Spaceknights decided to break ranks and go to different directions of space, trying to locate Dire Wraiths across the universe. In his last battle against them, the Dire Wraiths summoned a Deathwing against him. Deathwings were energy creatures in the shape of pterodactyls. The Dire Wraiths could summon but not control them. The Deathwing would not rest until killing all possible targets. Pulsar escaped this battle mortaly wounded.

His dying form was later discovered by the Shi'ar. Dr. Tyreseus bonded himself to the armor but called himself Liberator, not Pulsar. Tyreseus was killed by Gladiator.

The second Pulsar was Lan,  a Galadorian youth recruited as a third generation Spaceknight. This generation included two sons of Rom and Starshine/Brandy Clark and various Galadorian youths originating in Galador's space colonies. The colonies had not been affected by the civil war which annihilated the previous inhabitants of Galador. His main power wasthe use of  "Rays of destruction". The main difference of these Spaceknights was that they could change between cyborg and human form at will. The first two generations could only regularly use the cyborg form, their human form was placed in suspended animation to await their returns.
