When Craig Hollis set his house on fire when he was eight years old, his father Edward Hollis was trapped on the second floor and died. Craig entered the Wisconsin foster system and was placed with the O'Doughan family. This turned out to be both good and bad for Craig. Good because the only friend Craig really had until then was an entity known as Deathurge and Craig made friends quickly with the O'Doughan's daughter, Terri. It was also bad for him because Mr. O'Doughan was an abusive man. Craig lived with the O'Doughans until he was old enough to move out on his own at which point both he and Terri left the O'Doughan household.
