Minded One

Minded One

The Minded One, a powerful and fearsome Drug Lord, is one of several Mindless Ones whose overexposure to Neutron Star Radiation unlocked a genetic anomaly that made him intelligent. He was Zan Philo's prisoner until he broke out and Nova gatewarped him into Ego's brain.

History

The Minded One
The Minded One
Ages ago, someone began capturing and enslaving Mindless Ones and, thanks to their natural resistance to gravitational extremes, used them to mine Neutron Stars for rare metals, priceless chemical compounds and mineral alloys that could only be created in those conditions.

But, the Neutron Stars did more than create the rare metals this unknown party sought. The stars compressed the ultra-tiny brains of The Mindless Ones so much that it activated or created some sort of genetic mutation within them and turned some of them smart.

Smart enough to rally their dumber cousins, kill the slavemasters and go into business for themselves dealing a highly addictive drug called Krush, which could only be produced in the gravity sink of a Neutron Star.

Sometime after they went into the drug dealing business, a Nova Corpsman named Zan Philo set out on a quest to capture one of The Minded Ones, a particularly powerful and dangerous one that Philo spent six months following.

It wasn't until Philo managed to hit The Minded One with a psionic stunner that he managed to capture him.

Shortly afterward, Philo and his prisoner along with Philo's starcruiser were dragged into a dimensional flaw.

Centuries later, when The Fault tore time and space apart, the starcruiser was dislodged from the dimensional flaw and returned to the 616 universe, where it was found by Richard Rider and his fledgling Nova Corps.

For much of Rider's initial visit and during Monark Starstalker's attempt to take him into custody to gain the bounty on its head, The Minded One remained in his cell.

That is until The Black Hole Sons gang members under his control assaulted the cruiser and took the ship's main power out.

Upon breaking out, The Minded One shot down Monark Starstalker and engaged Nova himself in battle, which attracted the attention of the lesser Mindless Ones under his control.

Together, Nova and Starstalker managed to keep The Minded One and The Black Hole Sons occupied long enough for Worldmind to gatewarp them into the newly revived Ego the Living Planet's brain.

Desperate to escape from Ego's brain, The Minded One and his minions began firing away at Ego's prefrontal cortex, causing the enraged Living Planet unimaginable pain.

Unable to gain retribution on Nova for violating him in both body and mind in his current state, Ego fled the scene swearing revenge and began trying to rid his body of the annoying little drug dealers.

It is assumed that The Minded One and his cronies were killed by Ego sometime afterward.
