Lucky was living with his sister, Good Silva, and their parents in Detroit when a band of supervillains attacked their neighborhood. When their house was hit by a blast from Firebrand, Lucky was injured by the debris. Lucky was in the hospital for a while but let himself out the same night Dick Snerd was dropped at the hospital by the Great Lakes Avengers. Tracking his sister to GLA HQ, Lucky told her they were going to leave Detroit to avoid any trouble with Snerd once he gets out of the hospital. They were on the road but when Good got word that Big Bertha was in trouble, she left him at a gas station.
