Koth was a Captain of the Royal Guard of planet Crystalium. He was more experienced than most of his colleagues in the guard and a had a more cynical outlook of events. He had an even grimmer outlook by the time the series started. He had fought bravely in the Chaos War but his wife, Lady Ranilla, was butchered by a deamon during his absence.

He sided with Crystar in the civil war between him and Moltar and was transformed to one of the Crystal People by Ogeode. His new form had enhanced strength and durability. He no longer needed to eat, drink or breathe. He wielded a broadsword and a war club to combat. He played the flute in his spare time. During the conflct Koth wooed an unnamed Lava Woman and the series ended with hints of a relationship starting between them.
