She was brought to the mutant nation of Utopia in order to make Magneto a 'less frightening person' for the general public. In the aftermath of AvX it is revealed that Mr. Sinister killed the real Kildare as part of an emergency escape if his attempt at controlling the Phoenix failed, having gone to extreme lengths to hide himself from the Phoenix Five.
