Origin

Jacques Dernier was a man living in France during the occupation by Nazi Germnay in World War II. Jacques soon joined the French resistance and became known as "Frenchie".

Creation

Jacques Dernier was created by Stan Lee and Dick Ayers and first appeared (unnamed) in Sgt. Fury issue 21 (1965). He first appeared fully named in Sgt. Fury issue 40 (1967).

When Jacques joined the French resistance, he soon became a vital part of the organization. Because of this, Jacques crossed paths with the American sergeant Nick Fury and his Howling Commandos on a number of ocassions.
