Origin

Iron Mask was a villain of the American Old West who wore an iron helmet and body armor, making him impervious to bullets. He was a blacksmith and created his own armor. He also was handy with a handgun.

Creation

Iron Mask was created by Stan Lee and Jack Keller and first appeared in Kid Colt Outlaw issue 110 (1963).

Major Story Arcs

Villain in the West

He was a criminal mastermind of his time and led gangs including Bennington Brown, Dr. Danger, Fat Man, Hurricane, Living Totem, Rattler and Red Raven. His main adivsory was Kid Colt, whom he fought on a number of times. He later also faced the Phantom Rider, Rawhide Kid, Two-Gun Kid.

Versus the West Coast Avengers

Some years later, Iron Mask was een again with his gang of crooks as he faced the time-traveling West Coast Avengers (Hawkeye, Iron Man, Mockingbird, Tigra, Wonder Man) when those heroes teamed up with Iron Mask's old advisories the Western heroes.

Other Versions

Marvel Zombie 5

On Earth 438 Iron Mask was somehow gunned down and was buried in Boot Hill Cemetery. When the zombie virus arrived from Earth 616 Iron Mask rose as an undead zombie. When Swift Cloud gained her father's power she was able to shoot all the zombies in the head except for Iron Mask who was buried wearing his trademark mask. Iron Mask was about to bite Swift Cloud when Machine Man, sent from Earth 616, used his chainsaw to cut threw the mask and destroy Iron Mask's brain, killing him, again.

Powers

Iron Mask has no super human powers but the fact that he was able to make a iron suit in the time period he lived in was truely a feat.
