Genus was an escapee from a government facility who wanted to control his powers. He turned a police officer into a bestial creature whilst defending himself. Charles Xavier and Namor argued about Genus, with Xavier claiming that Genus could be a positive force for evolution whilst Namor argued that he would be used to de-evolve mutants. Whilst they argued a 2nd police officer shot Genus dead.
