Origin

Franklin Rhodes is a former member of S.H.I.E.L.D. He spent eight years doing black ops work. He retired and became a bank security guard in New York City and buys weapons to keep them off the streets. No word on if he is related to James Rhodes.

Created by Joe Casey and Stephen Platt in 1999.

Major Story Arcs

Rhodes found Cable in bomb rubble when the Vulture pulled a heist in a New York bank. Recognizing Cable as a fellow ex-soldier, he takes him home and tries to acclimate Cable to civilian life. Cable, however, is being hounded by the time-traveler D'Von Kray. When Kray attacks, Rhodes and Cable equip themselves with weapons from that Rhodes has bought from civilians. Rhodes then draws fire from Kray so as to deplete the cyborg's supply. Rhodes is hit and dies in Cable's arms.
