At some point in his life, Frank Bauer became a soldier-for-hire and would be hired by wealthy clients to protect them.
Creation
Frank Bauer was created by Robert Rodi and Sean Chen, first appearing in Elektra #23.
Major Story Arcs
The Mark
Anton Prebble hires Bauer to protect him from the assassin Elektra who has been hired to kill him. When Prebble arrives at his last safe-house, Bauer attempts to explain all the safety-procedures but Prebble ignores all of them, realising Elektra will kill him no matter what. Prebble then explains to Bauer that she killed all of his previous men, including Bauer's personal mentor which causes Bauer to loose his nerve.
When Elektra arrives, Prebble fires Bauer and orders him to protect himself by hiding in the safe-room off the hall. However, Bauer attempts to get back into Prebble's room to protect him before realising Elektra is standing behind him, having just killed 26 of Prebble's guards. Bauer and Elektra both stare each other down before she lowers her Sai and lets him run away, sparing him.
