Foundry is a member of the Avatars and servant of the Mandarin. His real name and origin are shrouded in mystery but Foundry and the rest of the Avatars appear to be empowered by mystical forces. Foundry and the rest of the Avatars would attack the citizens of Hong Kong and cause massive destruction in their wake. Foundry and the rest of the Avatars attract the attention of Force Works after they attack the Eastern Division of Stark Industries and Suzi Endo makes a distress call for help. The Mandarin and his Avatars planned to plunge the civilized world into the feudal dark ages by destroying all technology. The Avatars would engage Iron Man, War Machine and Force Works on several occasions during this adventure. The Mandarin and his Avatars would establish a bridgehead in Hong Kong where they planned to expand the deadly anti-technology field with the help of Century's staff, Parallax. The Mandarin's goal of world domination is thwarted when Iron Man infects him with the techno-organic virus. Foundry and the rest of the Avatars vanish when the Mandarin meets his apparent demise.

Creation

Foundry was created by Andy Lanning, Dan Abnett and Dave Taylor in 1994 and first appeared in Force Works # 6.

Story Arcs

Civil War

Foundry and the Avatars would resurface in New York and are wanted for opposing the Superhuman Registration Act. A destructive battle takes place on the streets and the police are assisted by the Heroes for Hire. Foundry engages Misty Knight in combat but she covers the Avatars' eyes with her bionic arm when he shoots his fire blasts from his eyes. The fiery backlash blinds Foundry and Misty Knight knocks him out with one punch. Foundry and the rest of the Avatars are defeated and would be placed into the Negative Zone Prison Alpha.

Powers & Abilities

Foundry is a powerful warrior clad in armor that emits heat blasts from his eyes. He can also morph his hands into various weapons like blades or hammers.
